Why don’t people respond to my facebook posts?

Because they’re boring.

Snore-worthy.

When you write,

their eyes glaze over like a donut.

And not the good kind of donuts, the stale kind you buy on Friday morning at Safeway.

Sorry to be so blunt.

But people have giant news feeds full of things they don’t care about.

Anything that used to be average or somewhat interesting?

Is now a bore.

“Check out Jim & Sally’s Engagement session, they were so fun to photograph!”

Snore.

“Little Sally is SO CUTE! She kept on smiling whenever I put the camera down!”

Zzzzzzz.

The problem is, you’re saying exactly what every other photographer is saying. And you’re leaving nothing to the imagination.

You need to create a short and sweet headline (your facebook post) to get them curious and WANT to click “more” or click the link to your blog post that you put in the caption of your photo.

I have a certain formula I follow to do this, more on that after the examples:

Rewrite #1:

“Check out Jim & Sally’s Engagement session, they were so fun to photograph!”

You either need to bring out what was so fun, or re-word this so that it SOUNDS more fun.

“A cat chasing a ball of yarn couldn’t have had more fun than I did during Jim & Sally’s  engagement session. Sally kept snort-laughing because of what Jim kept doing – read the full blog post here…”

Rewrite #2:

“Little Sally is SO CUTE! She kept on smiling whenever I put the camera down!”

Re-write to:

“She had stern eyes and a frozen frown when I arrived. Her eyes looked into my soul as if she could see what I was planning, and it wasn’t going to work. It was then I knew my normal monkey noises and silly faces just wouldn’t cut it – not today. What I did to make her smile will surprise you – read more on the blog here…..”

I know what you’re thinking.

You’re thinking, thanks for the examples! But, what good does that do me? How can I rewrite my posts to peak curiosity and grab attention?

I would never just leave you hanging with no REAL way to solve your problem.
